Taste and See

Mark 6 is a chapter of miracles that defy the laws of nature. Jesus feeds five thousand hungry people from a boy’s sack lunch, then later walks across a churning sea to reach His terrified disciples, saying simply, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” Both miracles make the same quiet claim: the provision, presence, and power of God aren’t in short supply just because the need feels enormous.

Chef José Andrés built World Central Kitchen on a similar idea, showing up after hurricanes, earthquakes, and wars with a handful of cooks to stretch whatever ingredients are available into hundreds of thousands of meals for people who’ve lost everything. It shouldn’t work on paper, and yet it does, again and again, disaster after disaster. It’s a modern echo of loaves and fishes: scarcity meeting a God (and the people willing to serve Him) who have been empowered to make “not enough” into more than enough.

Prayer: Provider and Presence, meet us in our scarcity and our storms alike. Let us taste Your goodness today in ways we can’t explain away. Amen.
