Readings: Psalm 46 | 2 Chronicles 18:12-22 | Hebrews 9:23-28
Psalm 46 speaks with unsettling relevance: nations rage, mountains fall, waters roar, and yet God’s river brings peace. We scroll through headlines of conflict, polarization, and anxiety, absorbing more fear than our souls were built to carry. God doesn’t deny the chaos; He declares His presence within it.
In 2 Chronicles, the lone voice of truth cuts through a choir of flattery. Micaiah refuses to echo the comfortable narrative. Truth is often unpopular in noisy times, yet it is the only path to life. Hebrews 9 lifts our eyes to Christ, whose once-for-all sacrifice anchors our hope beyond every earthly upheaval.
God calls us not to escape the noise but to hear Him above it. “Be still” is not passive, it is defiant trust in a God who reigns when everything shakes.
Devotional Prompts:
- What voices drown out God’s peace in your life?
- Where do you need courage to speak truth rather than comfort?
- How can stillness become part of your daily resistance to fear?
Prayer:
God our refuge, quiet the noise around and within me. Make me bold in truth and steady in Your presence. Amen.
