Readings: Ephesians 6 | Psalm 97

Paul ends Ephesians with surprising language: armor, struggle, flaming arrows, and spiritual forces. Yet his command isn't “Go win the battle.” It is stand. “Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power.” Even the armor we're given comes from God: truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, the Word, and prayer. The Christian life isn't sustained by becoming strong enough on our own. We stand because Christ is strong enough for us.

And that brings us back to where this week's journey began. Psalm 97 declares, “The Lord is king!” We began Monday with a reigning God, and we end Saturday with a reigning God. Chosen. Saved. Loved. Called. Formed. Strengthened. From beginning to end, the story is first about what God has done and only then about how we respond. Whatever this next week holds, you don't enter it alone and you don't enter it relying on your own strength. The King who called you is the King who goes with you.

Devotional Prompts:

  • Where are you currently relying on your own strength rather than trusting in the strength God provides?
  • Looking back over this week's journey through Ephesians—chosen, saved, loved, called, formed, and strengthened—which truth do you most need to carry into the coming week, and why?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, when I feel weak, teach me to stand in your strength. Guard me with your truth, shape me by your grace, and make my life faithful to you.
