Readings: Isaiah 26:1–9 | 2 Corinthians 4:16–18
The readings today draw our attention away from what is temporary and toward the eternal work God is doing within us. Paul reminds us that though our outer selves may feel worn and weary, our inner selves are being renewed day by day.
We often measure our spiritual lives by what can be seen in our physical progress. Yet Scripture calls us to step deeper, paying attention to the quiet renewal happening beneath the surface. God forms endurance within our waiting. Even when everything around us feels heavy, God is shaping something resilient and radiant within us.
Sitting with these passages disrupts the lie that our worth is tied to momentum. Instead, we discover a God who renews us not by demanding more, but by giving more of Himself. The unseen work of grace becomes our anchor, steadying us in uncertainty and reshaping our vision for the life God is building within us.
Devotional Prompts:
- Where do we feel worn out and in need of renewal?
- How might God be working in ways we cannot yet see?
- What practices help us cultivate trust in God’s quiet work?
- Where is God inviting us to rest instead of striving?
Prayer:
God of steadfast peace, breathe renewal into our tired places. Help us trust the unseen work You are doing within us. Make us people shaped by hope, endurance, and holy rest. Amen.
