Readings: Ezekiel 47:1–12 | Jude 1:17–25
Jude warns believers about destructive cultural currents but encourages us with a powerful call to perseverance: “Keep yourselves in the love of God.” In a fragmented age where cynicism is normal and faith can feel fragile, Jude’s message is startlingly relevant. The world pulls toward division and despair, yet believers are anchored by mercy and mission.
Jude doesn’t ask us to withdraw from the world but to stay rooted in God’s love while living within it. That means nurturing habits of prayer, truth-telling, and community that keep us steady when everything around us feels volatile. He urges us to show mercy to those who doubt and to rescue others without losing ourselves in the very forces threatening to undo them. We are called to be people of restorative presence who offer mercy where others offer mockery, and stability where culture offers chaos.
Advent reminds us that Christ entered a troubled world not to condemn it but to redeem it. We are invited into that same redemptive posture.
Devotional Prompts:
- What practices help you stay grounded in God’s love?
- How do you respond to doubt, either your own or others’?
- Who in your life needs mercy instead of judgment right now?
Prayer:
God of mercy, keep us anchored in Your love. Strengthen our hearts to persevere, to offer compassion freely, and to reflect Your restoring grace in a weary world. Amen.
