Readings: Exodus 3:13–20 | Luke 20:1–8
When Moses asked for God’s name, the answer was both mysterious and intimate: “I AM WHO I AM.” In that moment, God revealed His eternal presence and faithfulness as the One who was, is, and always will be. Centuries later, Jesus would embody that same authority and divinity, confounding the religious leaders who questioned His right to act in God’s name.
God’s self-revelation reminds us that His call always flows from His character. When He sends, He also sustains. Moses felt unqualified, yet God promised His presence. Jesus, the great “I AM,” stands as that same assurance for us today.
In a world filled with uncertainty, the divine name grounds us: God is. He remains faithful, unchanging, and near. When we stand in His calling, we do not go alone. The flame that burned before Moses still burns in our hearts through His Spirit.
Devotional Prompts:
- Where do you sense God calling you to obedience or courage today?
- What does God’s name, “I AM,” reveal to you about His nature?
- How can you cultivate confidence in God’s ongoing presence?
Prayer:
Eternal I AM, thank You for Your steadfast presence in every calling. Kindle in me the flame of faith, that I may walk boldly in Your purpose. Amen.
