Date: Thursday, December 25, 2025 – Nativity of the Lord - Proper III (Christmas Day)

Readings: Isaiah 52:7–10 | Psalm 98 | Hebrews 1:1–12 | John 1:1–14

John’s proclamation that “the Word became flesh” invites us into the profound mystery of the incarnation. God does not save from a distance. He enters the grit and weight of human life, revealing His glory not through spectacle but solidarity. In Jesus, the eternal Word moves into our neighborhood, giving light that cannot be overshadowed.

Isaiah’s vision of the messenger announcing peace and the psalmist’s celebration of God’s victorious salvation resound with joy that God acts decisively on behalf of His people. Hebrews then reminds us that Christ is the radiance of God’s glory and “the exact imprint of God’s nature.” On Christmas Day, we are challenged to embrace not just a sentimental story, but a revolutionary reality: God has come close, and everything is changed.

Devotional Prompts:

  • What part of John’s vision of the Word made flesh strikes you most deeply?
  • How does the incarnation challenge your assumptions about God?
  • What does it mean for you that God draws near in your lived experience?

Prayer:
Incarnate Lord, dwell with me today. Let Your nearness renew my courage and expand my love. May the glory of Christ shine through my life as I celebrate Your coming. Amen.
