Readings: Luke 1:46b–55 | Isaiah 33:17–22 | Revelation 22:6–7, 18–20

Revelation 22 reminds us that Christ’s return is not a distant myth but a present urgency. As John records the words of Jesus: “I am coming soon”, we’re confronted with the tension between waiting and readiness. Do our lives reflect anticipation or distraction? The challenge is not merely to accept the prophecy as an ideal in the distant future, but to live with the eager expectation it could happen any moment.

Mary's Magnificat in Luke crowns this urgency with a song of reversal, as God lifts the humble and scatters the proud. Isaiah’s vision then widens our view with the promise of a King who brings justice and stability. Together, the readings point to an Advent future that opens our eyes to the nearness of Christ's Kingdom that is perceptible now, even if not fully visible; prompting us to say, Come quickly, Lord Jesus!

Devotional Prompts:

  • Where do you sense God calling you to greater readiness?
  • How does Mary’s song challenge your understanding of power and humility?
  • What promises of God anchor you in moments of anxiety?

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, awaken my heart to Your nearness. Shape me into a person who watches with hope and walks with courage. Strengthen me to trust Your promises as I live in expectation of Your coming. Amen.
