Readings: Job 25:1-26:14 | John 5:19-29

Job 25–26 reminds us that God’s majesty is beyond measure. Even the stars are not pure in His sight, yet this same God gives life and purpose to fragile humanity. Jesus echoes this in John 5, declaring that the Father has entrusted all judgment to the Son, so that those who hear His voice may live.

In a world obsessed with power and perfection, these texts humble and console us. We are small, but not insignificant. God’s glory does not crush us, it calls us into relationship. The One who sustains galaxies also listens when we pray. Christ’s authority over life and death is not distant; it’s deeply personal.

When we grasp the vastness of God’s power and the tenderness of His mercy, awe becomes worship. We need not fear judgment when our lives are hidden in Christ. The Judge Himself is our Savior, whose word speaks life into our every weakness.

Devotional Prompts:

  • What does God’s greatness reveal about your dependence on Him?
  • How does Jesus’ authority bring comfort rather than fear?
  • Where can awe deepen your worship this week?

Prayer:
Almighty God, Your power fills heaven and earth, yet You know me by name. Teach me to live in reverent awe and joyful trust in Your mercy. Amen.
