"If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you." ~ John 15:7
The phrase "if you abide in my word" is a biblical quote from the Gospel of John, most famously in John 8:31-32 and John 15:7. It means to be a disciple who is deeply connected to Jesus' teachings, leading to the promise of knowing God and being set free from the effects of the human condition that we all feel. To "abide" means to remain, live within, and deeply internalize the teachings of Jesus, which draws upon and clarifies the teachings and laws of the Old Testament. To know the truth is to be set free from those things in life that rob us from feeling joy and peace, finding a well of patience, kindness, goodness, and compassion that never runs dry. Think of it as having a spiritual "force field" of truth, beauty, and power that nourishes and guides you every moment of every day of your life.
In many ways, humanity has lost its story. Where did we come from? Who are we, really? And where is this life leading us? Come and see, says Jesus.
There is an old illustration used by many pastors over the years that goes something like this: If I promised to give you $1,440 every day for the rest of your life on the sole condition that each day you would spend $20 of that money on a thoughtfully-chosen gift that you promise to purchase for me, would you take the offer? Could you, would you, commit to that deal?
"Return to Me," declares the LORD of Hosts, "and I will return to you," says the LORD of Hosts. (Zechariah 1:3).
Every 24-hour day equates to 1,440 minutes of life. God has given us that life. Are you willing to spend 20 minutes... even 5 minutes, at the start of your day to reflect on God's love for you? If you are, the reward is great. Come and see.
This site is dedicated to providing you content for the start (or the end) of your day. No more than 5 minutes is required. But you might find yourself wanting more once you make it a part of your daily routine.
Take the gift. Choose life. Choose freedom. Come and see what you're missing.
